A day in the life at Little One

A regular day at Little One Jaipuria, Kakadeo Kanpur typically begins with the students coming with their parents with chirpy smiles and bright eyes. The most beautiful thing to see in the morning is how these little children leave the hands of their parents and come to their second home to meet their friends and teachers, to play and to experience a variety of learning through classroom and outdoor activities.

Since we all believe that the morning routine sets the tone for the day the first thing that happens at school is the morning prayers. It’s a ritual so entwined in the daily habits that even the students look forward to it every day. That’s also the time when the teachers and the principal interact with the students at a common platform paving a way for seamless communication all throughout.

Once the students are done with, they move to their respective classes to begin their academic routine. The days begin with writing work that slowly moves forward to poem and recitation practice. As the children are still working on their pincer grip there is more emphasis on vocal skills. Cognitive and language skills are built in school when the children are subjected to experienced teachers who inculcate a habit of English speaking amongst the children.

Circle time is a daily structured session where the children gather around their respective teachers for an interactive dialogue. Most topics related to science, current affairs, general knowledge, festivals etc. are discussed there. Beyond just sitting attending the session the children get time to open up with the teacher at the same level. There are discussions about the weather and environment where the kids can easily contribute their own thought and ideas. Discussions about personal observations and preferences also enriches the understanding and appreciation of the environment.

Any school is incomplete without a working library and Little One is no different, the children get to experience the joy of reading a few times in a week. The biggest challenge today is to inculcate the love for books and reading and it will only happen when it starts young and stays consistent. The teacher helps the students to choose the book and then the students spend some time trying to read and get used to the touch and feel of physical books.

Preschoolers at this age are brimming with energy and it needs to be put to good use. The growth of any child is incomplete without playing sports regularly. The school has swings for the children to jump up and down which they can enjoy. Apart from this the students also have their skating training to learn a new skill.

Most children feel burdened with studies and their breather is a weekly “No Bag Day” for them. A day that is filled with activities, fun interactions with people inside and outside of school for the students to break the monotony of the school and studies. The students are even dressed in casual dresses to keep the spirit of the day alive. Students look forward to this day where they know it will only be fun and activities for them.

Lastly a day at Little One is incomplete without the tiffin, so the kids carry a snack and fruit tiffin for them to get habituated of including fruits in their daily diet.
